Bear making books

I think this question may have been asked before (but I can't find it). Other than Teddy Bear Times (which I have subscribed to) can anyone recommend any good books on bear making? I've seen one by Donna Gibbs :confused: any ideas?

101 bears to make is fab!!! LOADS of inspiration from that!
I learnt from 'making and dressing miniature bears' but I can't remember who wrote it (google may know!) but depends if you are into miniatures or larger bears. I have bought probably every book I could find on bears but those were the best.

:)Hi Hayley, there are so many bear making books out there, each with very different styles of bears. One that always has inspired me and is more suitable for a very traditional bear is 'Bear Lace Cottage' I think the author is Anita Louise Crane. This is a very attractive book and is just nice to pick up and read.

There are loads aren't there! I can't seem to find the bear lace cottage book, and i've searched for the 101 bears to make and it's out of print but being sold on amazon for over £100!! :( I'll keep trying though :6013:

Well, i've bit the bullet and i'm bidding for this book on ebay. I tried to order it from W h Smiths but they can't get hold of it anymore either. Oh dear, I think it's a case of wanting something you can't have that makes me even more desperate to have it!! :(

Hi Hayley

I am quite new to bear making myself and have purchased a few books to have a look at and I have found all the books by Jennifer Laing to be really good and they are explained in nice easy details :D. I did my first teddy from one of these patterns and it was so easy to follow and it was lovely when complete :).

I to have been trying to get the 101 teddy bears book as I have been told by many people that this is the book to get so I think it might be my next buy if I can get it.

Teddy Bear Art by Jennifer Laing

The ultimate Handbook for Making
Teddy Bears by Linda Mullins

The Art and Craft of Bear Making
by Alicia Merrett & Ann Stephens

All of these books are well illustrated and explain clearly how to alter or adjust pattern pieces with confidence.

It is ridiculous how much this book in being sold for, and its a shame it is out of print. People just get greedy sometimes, I mean, £100+ for a £20 book! :rolleyes: However, it does say on Nancy Tillbergs' website, it says it will be available soon in CD format :6013: http://www.kranbearys.com/book.htm

My teddy bear studio book arrived today and is fantastic! I ordered it from Amazon, used, but it looks very nearly new! It only cost £2.74 inc postage, fantastic!
