I had a sad day today because we had to take our 3 pet rats to vet to put down. They were old and two of them had tumours in difficult places.

So I finished making Nirppu. He is a... thing. Someone I know drew a musical instrument and someone turned it into Nirppu and I turned it into this

Nirppu's whiskers are real hair, actually I used eyelashes I bought the other day.

Nirppu has a jointed head and there's wires inside his legs and tail.

I've also been working on a pony which looked like everything else but a pony while I was making it so it was called a camel-giraffe-donkey. :D Buuuut it turned out good enough for me.

And he's Jouni.

With same eyelashes Nirppu has as whiskers.

That's all for now, I'm waiting for mohair and thinking over those real bears.

I'm so sorry to hear about your rats. To lose one is bad enough but all three at the same time. :( At least none were left behind to get lonely.

I love your softie rat, he's got lots and lots of character. His eyes are just awesome. The pony is cute too and he's definitely a pony and not a camel nor a giraffe or a donkey. :6086: I often call my works in progress 'blobs' for a while as I do find them extremely odd, especially without eyes and ears.

I bet those eyelashes were tricky to fix, worth it though. I think they look neat.

I love them both - really sweet faces , but Nirppu is a star !! He is fantastic , and has such a great character . I'm sure he is a fitting tribute to your sadly departed rats :6022: I hope he will help you to have more smiles than tears when you think of them :6034:

It is a very sad day indeed to have to part with a much loved animal. I know, because only last week I had to make the awful decision to have Yettie, my fifteen+ year old Angora Goat put to sleep. But I do have enough of her mohair fleece from several shearings still waiting to be spun. So I can always have happy memories of her whilst I am wearing a jacket or something knitted from her fleece.

Nirppu is just unbelievable. What a character he is indeed. And Yes, those eyes! :D Perfect in every way. Well done. The pony is certainly a real pony. A very cheeky one too I think. :)

What is your next project.....:6044:

Cheers,
Sheila :6086:

Thank you all for the answers. I'm quite happy about Nirppu's appearance. :6013:

Heh, I think putting those eyelashes were way easier on pony than your own eyes, though they tended to get glued on my fingers instead of eyelids.

My projects are currently in wait, since I'm waiting for that mohair, but I might come up with something else sooner or later.
