I only have a small space to craft, and this space is in our living space as I haven't a spare room, and although it can be tidy (while I'm not working) when I'm creating it's like a tornado hit, and if I'm in the middle of something I don't like to put it all away because the thought of getting everything back out puts me off carrying on. BUT I HATE THE MESS!!!!!! :(
I'm sure you're all much more organised than me - have you any tips that would help?? :p

I know what you mean, there is so much stuff. I am lucky enough to have a spare room, but it's not very nice at the moment as next year we are going to move the bathroom around, so the walls are stripped and there's no radiator brrrrhhh !!!!:6031:
I've just ordered some stackable storage boxes, they come in all different sizes and I'm looking forward to organising all my stuff, because I'm sad like that, but I like things tidy and organised.
The fur is a bit of a problem and does seem to spread around the house, and I can't blame it all on my cats now !
Maybe some of the other girls will come up with some different ideas ?

Yes Shelly, those stacking boxes are really great. I bought 5 large ones in the summer and I suddenly had room to move at long last. I am fortunate that I have my own room, known as Sheila's Den. In it I have my computer and all the bits that go with it, A chest of drawers, two bookcases, a big worktop for cutting out my fabric, a table with all the equipment for the spinning, and of course my spinning wheel. So the stacking boxes were a godsend. It released so much room that I now have room for the knitting machine to be up permanently. And if you think that it is a huge room, then NO, it is a small single bedroom, and when I ran out of space, then shelves were put up all round the room, so most things are to hand. It is brilliant and I love every minute spent in my Den.
Have fun everyone,
Sheila:6084:

Many thanks to you both. I'm glad I'm not the only one!! :p
I do have shelves and boxes, maybe I just have too much stuff (so true!) I'm very much, 'well if I don't get it now, it might not be here again....' and that gets me into this position!!
Time to downsize and have another sort out!! :D

Maybe we should have a market stall section where people can sell off there unwanted bits that they don't like or haven't used ? Or even a swap shop LOL

I wish I could help!
I'm lucky enough to have my own little room, but I'm still working on my last Christmas orders and it looks like an explosion of well ....... everything. Stuffing, woodwool, pins, needles ....... need I say more, I think you're probably here with me on this one. I have to tidy up in the morning :( before I can start working again. I just can't face it tonight ......

I started off with one box Clare and now I have eight boxes full of mohair and other bits and pieces not to count the samples and patterns on top of the bookshelf.Oh and don't forget the stuff in the kitchen and in the cupboard upstairs.I just seem to be expanding all the time.It would be lovely to have my own room but thats not possible so I just have to manage. As for tidying up I am very tidy but have no choice anyway as I have two young children and cats and I have to be meticulous as if any of them get hold of pins etc I dread to think.Tell hubby it is about time you had an extension-needs must and all that!

I sit with a big tray spread across my armchair and keep all the bits I am working on on that, I can watch the TV if I want, I also have my daylight lamp hanging over the armchair which has a magnifying glass attached so I can see the little bits. I can move the tray around at will so all the bits stay on that.
I have to hoover regularly so I have a small hoover resting on the arm of the chair, I am allergic to wool and mohair bits (why do I make bears) so keep hoovering up all the trimmed hair and bits otherwise I start to feel ropey.
However, fabric and boxes and patterns start to spread and then I have a blitz tidy up as the cats start thinking they might like to lie in the mohair, and one of them likes my long needles and tries to chew them, so I have to be careful.

I must admit that I do have my own purpose built attic studio. Everything that is involved in my bear making, including my computer is here. I have draws, cupboards and boxes full of stuff, its reasonably tidy too………….BUT.......when I am working downstairs I start off all tidy and before long I take over the whole living room, dining room and conservatory, when this starts to happen I then get forced back into the attic and it becomes a repetition of the same thing over and over……..so Yes I am a messy worker, but it's a struggle as I like a tidy house too

My house always looks like a bomb site! I'm too much of a squirrel to get rid of anything.:o :o
Oh for a larger house!
Seriously girls, be careful about mohair round computers. Computers don't like dust.
cheers,

It's not only dust caused by mohair that computers hate. We have an oversize Bearded Collie that in this weather brings half the pony's paddock on his feet into the house. And today's mud turns into tomorrow's dust. Anyway, I believe we have solved the problem, this morning I told him he couldn't go anywhere with feet like that and to go and get in the bath. Ha ha, I thought as I shut the back door. But sure enough, there he was sitting in the bath looking up at the shower!! Pleased to say that we don't have to share the same bath as the dog.:6021:
