I am making a bear who needs a crown. I don't want a plastic one but something really nice. Does anyone know where I can buy such a thing or where I could have one made:6044:

Have you tried making a crown from a piece of lace, and then painting it all over with a fabric stiffener. I have seen this done, and the result is stunning.

You could have a go at making a tiara yourself, it's not too difficult if you have some basic tools.

I had a go at making a simple one for a bear a couple of years ago now (blimey where's the time gone!). For a first attempt I was quite happy with the result, it measures 6cm across and just over 3cm high. I used gold plated wire and Swarovski crystal beads for a bit of added sparkle.

It may not be what you have in mind, especially if you're thinking of a crown for a gentleman bear. :D

An alternative could be sculpting with polymer clay. You can paint it gold afterwards. I made a gold medallion for my husbands pirate fancy dress costume last year and it looks quite realistic epecially with some jewels added.

Just a few more ideas for you to mull over if you'd like to have go yourself. :D

Thanks booth for your suggestions. I had a go at making one from wire etc., but this is obviously not my thing. I have seen one made from lace etc. which I had forgotton about. Might just have to give that a go.

I don't know if this is too late, but how about Christmas decorations? I remember last year I bought a set of three tiaras complete with fluff around the rim from HobbyCraft - they were made out of wire and were very pretty (I was planning on taking photos with my cats wearing them, but never got round to it!)

If you want to make one, you could thread seed beads onto wire and use that to hide joins etc.
