Hi,

I would like to know if anyone can recommend a book(s) that tells you about the following:

- A history of bears (when bear making began, who started it off and how it progressed etc).

-Buying and selling bears

-Collecting bears

-How to recognise a bear's maker and estimate a price etc

-A guide to making and restoring bears

I would be very grateful if anyone has good suggestions of books that may contain some/all of the above. I realise that there is prob not going to be just one book with all this info but ive looked on Amazon and there are so many books to choose from! I much prefer more comprehensive books rather than ones that just gloss over the details.

Many thanks!!

ps, one book i saw on Amazon was Miller's Teddy Bears: A Complete Collector's Guide. It looks a good book but then i'm not too sure what i'm looking for!

The following books are others that I have seen on Amazon and look as though they might be quite good, but i'd ppreciate input from anyone who knows which are best?

- Restoring Teddy Bears and Stuffed Animals (Hardcover)
by Rolf Pistorius (Author), Christel Pistorius (Author)

- Buying and Selling Teddy Bears: Price Guide (Paperback)
by Terry Michaud (Author), Doris Michaud (Author)

- Christie's Century of Teddy Bears (Paperback)
by Leyla Maniera (Author)

Let me start off by commenting on the books that you have mentioned:
1)Miller's Teddy Bears: A Complete Collector's Guide. I use this book the most if I need to identify a bear or do research on bears. There are loads of information on vintage bears, buying & selling bears, care and restoration, how to spot a fake and much more. The picture quality is very good and all is in color. If you buy one book I recommend this BOOK.

2)Buying and Selling Teddy Bears: Price Guide (Paperback)
by Terry Michaud (Author), Doris Michaud (Author)
The pictures are small and the quality of some of the pictures are not good. There is not a lot of information in this book. I hardly use this book.

3)Christie's Century of Teddy Bears (Paperback)
by Leyla Maniera (Author)[/QUOTE]
Beautiful book, loads of information and high quality pictures.

Hope this helps ;););)

I got a gift from a friend last week: Miller's Teddy Bears: A Complete Collector's Guide.

I allready own a copy BUT what makes this one so special is that it is a revised edition from 2006 and ALL PRICES ARE UPDATED.:6013:
