I have inherited almost two hundred limited
edition bears, all bought over the last twelve
years.
Does anybody know how I can find the original
prices, what they are worth today, and if I wanted
to sell them, how?

Ebay.co.uk and Ebay.com can be a good way to judge the secondary market values. Put in 'completed item' searches as well as doing current searches and they should start to give you an understanding of what to expect.

Hi,
Paula's right about usung ebay as a guide. You could also use the internet to surf through sites that deal in second hand bears, I would put in something like ' collectors bears' into Google. They may have for sale the same bears you own and some sites may be willing to buy them off you.
You could also find the web site of the manufacturer and contact them for the information, I'm sure they would have an original selling price.
Hope this helps.

Hello James,
Two hundred limited edition bears .... all is said about how much IT IS worth... I am explaning :
When a teddy bear collector buy a bear as a limited edition (made buy Dean, Herrmann, etc... except some model made by Steiff but not all though) he should know the price he is buying the edition is going to worth less as soon as the limited edition is bought. We all know this.
However, a limited edition is made to build a collection and here is the point and the value of what you inherited. You inherited a nice collection and it is from this all the bears that have been bought to make this collection got the initial price again ... I don't know if I am understanding ;)
I am trying another way : If you try to sell the collection, bear by bear it is going to be worth less considering if you do you won't sell a collection you would sell a collectible bear here is a difference.
The 200 hundred bears are worth at least the original price + a value because of the number. It is going to be difficult for you to find out what was the exact original price. The best way should be to get an average value for each bear, exemple :
- £ 100 each, knowing some are worth a little bit more and some less X by the number of bears. So you got an idea of the mathematical price on which you can add a little bit more of value in order to "deal the price" with a collector who would be potentially interested in the purchase of the whole collection.
Once again, in this specifical case of a collection made of limited edition bears, don't forget, the price of a collection is worth more than each bear itself.
It is a "starting" view point, something as a generality. I can help you to give the collection its global valuation.
I hope it helps lol
Good Week end to you all

Hello Eric
Thankyou so much for your helpful response.
I would be interested to hear more.
At the moment I am trying to compile a list of
what I have so that I can e-mail the list
for possible buyers to view.
Penny for your thoughts
warm regards
