OK.... I'm going to try and not make this a ramble but OMG aka OH MY GOD! I am exhausted. It was the most incredible day, it's like stepping into a magical place where time and logical both cease to exist and you step out into a light of happiness (I'm rambling already aren't I?)

First of all I apologise so so so much but I didn't take a single photo. I charged my camera especially for the occasion but I got so swept in I'd been round twice before I even thought OOoppss!

The event was packed and full of excitement. And even the pre-provided maps don't give an indication as to the size of the event.
I arrived at 11.30 and some people had already sold out!

For you bear makers on here you would NOT believe the amount of mohair around. I can't type how much I bought/spent because it worries me slightly but I wouldn't be without it. I didn't even know where to start.

I got to meet Paula from AllBear and whilst I didn't pick up a bear this time (planned for Stratford tho :p) she took the time to speak to me, say Hi, she remembered me from some e-mails for another forum and was really encouraging when I showed her Blizzard who I took round with me. (Paula's key tip was to trim seam allowance for anyone who doesn't yet). Her bears by the way are beautiful in reality and so weighty. My friend Jean said at the end that she topped all who were there.

We then kept walking round and also spoke to Jane Mogford of Pipkins Bears who is local to me so took the time to ask how I was getting on and also compliment my bear. She absolutely saved me with ladder stitch and was truly friendly.

I saw some amazing craft from BearBits and had a lovely chat with a lady from Holland whose bears were wonderful. We somehow got talking about ice skating which was nice :D

Lisa of Bears on Soar was the most enthuastic person I have ever met and her bears are incredible. The noses are an impossibility and I can't begin to imagine how she does them! Again more nice compliments on blizzard so I'm all embarassed and encouraged at this point.

We did stop briefly for food before carrying on. Saw Shelley's Rabbits and nearly fell over backward with the exquisite detail and also spoke to a lovely lady over lunch who again loved Blizzard and was after adding to her collection of DoDo Bears.

Finally, I make it downstairs. A brief chat with JacQLyn Bears about their courses in Leek, Staffs and there is a giant Christie Bears sign.
Now I know Judi owns the site and is going to read this so don't think I'm just saying this to earn brownie points but Judi is one of the NICEST people I have ever met.
Worked off her feet (since 1am I'm told :p) but took so much time to say hello.
Judi bless her had prepared a head for me to show me needle sculpting (SO easy now I know how) and then handed me an unstuffed head to have a go myself; will show you how I get on. When I went back I found myself having a go with the copic airbrush system (and buying one :6086:) and Chris was handing out free old editions of Teddy Magazines to anyone who even walked past the door.
Was so good to meet you Judi, great to put a face to the name and honestly thanks so much for everything.
Infact Judi is such a good sales woman that when I said I'd spent too much she said she wouldn't show me anything else :p

I was told Lisa was there with her son but I couldn't find her. (Hi Lisa, hope you had a great day? I did a complete top to bottom search for you but think I'd missed you by this point - really sorry. Did you enjoy?)

Anyway.... an hour of reading and no doubt your getting bored so I will pull this to close.
I can't really say much more but the talent and inspiration out there is amazing. Hugglets is great for buyers and collectors alike and if you can get there, do! You won't be disappointed I promise. I would recommend saving as you'll want everything; picking Mohair in person is the best experience ever.
Right now which to design first?.... glad i have two days off :6013::6045:

PS. to anyone who asked or cares.... I came first in my ice skating :6013:
I'm the current male young adult British Champion in the bronze category. Have a gold medal and came 2nd out of all the girls and age groups too so was a great result for me. Family saw and are very proud too so as you can tell.... this was the most exciting and brilliant weekend EVER!

I'm REALLY sorry about photos lol. You don't understand how carried away you get though!
And yes apologies, I did mean needle sculpting (I'll blame lack of sleep) will edit that in the post now.
You should definitely try and get in Sept. Save as much as you can from now tho, I promise you'll need it.

Aha! The "Forgetting Photographs" syndrome is a well known state during Hugglets , as the visitors go like this: :6038: In fact , even stall holders often suffer from it!!! :6086: HeeHee - I hear lots of people say they've marked their floor plan out etc , but then just throw it over their shoulder when they get through the doors. :D

I did feel a little blue yesterday because I wasn't there .... but your report makes up for it a bit :o I'm SO glad you had a great time ( don't worry about the "over-spends"either .... as time goes on it gets easier to trick yourself in to believing that once you've bought supplies in the fur you won't need to order so much online! ;))

Oh and CONGRATULATIONS for your ice-skating! That is so thrilling:6045: What a wonderful achievement :6013:

Mini Hugs (and clapping) ,

Thanks for the info and no you weren't rambling it was very informative, and now I have to go one day (sooner rather then later :)) Never mind about the photo's I forget to take them too when I'm overwhelmed with excitement.
I'm glad that everyone loved Blizzard and help teach you tricks so that you can even further improve and thanks for sharing them.
Can't wait to see the next creation out of hugglets fur :P

Arrghh, I spent ages typing a reply and then it vanished. Boo hoo!

Richard, I am so sorry to have missed you. I kept an eye out as we walked round and had my badge proudly displayed but with no luck. It just goes to show that to meet up you really have to arrange a time and a place, lol! There were so many people there. Congratultions on winning your ice skating competition. :6013: Are you aiming to compete in the next Winter Olympics?

Hugglets was amazing as usual. Our journey down was a bit of a nightmare but seeing all the fabulous creations made it all worthwhile. I had a lovely chat with Shelly, her rabbits are just out of this world. She only had one left for sale when we popped by, so popular are they. Judi and Chris looked very busy but managed a quick chat with me too. I hope that you've both recovered now and that your doggy didn't eat too much 'wall' whilst you were away. :p

I wanted to purchase lots of the bears there but most were way out of my budget. I narrowed it down to a choice between the smallest of the 'Bears Upon Soar' bears and the smallest of the 'Humble Crumble' bears. But when it came down to it I couldn't bring myself to purchase either. They were still a bit too expensive for me, sigh! I did think of offering my son up for sale so that I could fund one but he wasn't very keen on that idea. I consoled myself with a piece of fabric instead, lol!

Regards

Lisa

Hi Lisa. Glad you enjoyed it. Next time we're in the same fair we will definitely arrange to meet up. It was so busy.

Unfortunately Winter Olympics is out of the question. At 21 I'm too old, can you believe it? Besides which I'm just working towards doubles whereas people my age in the olympics are landing triples and quads. Really just want to get to the highest level in adult competitions that I can :)

Bears upon Soar were beautiful. I so nearly picked up a small one myself but the beautiful polar was taken. The detail and character was amazing. Don't know if you spoke to Lisa but she was so enthusiastic and so lovely too.

I think that Chris and I have just about recovered from the weekend, I was in bed at 6pm last night trying to ignore a migraine, ouch.:6022:
Hugglets was a great day, saw so many people and met up with old and new friends. Jo Rothrey the ex editor of Teddy Bear Times popped in for a chat, Freda Neil who is a fantastic fund raiser for Greyhounds came along. Lisa and son, (who did look a little tired, glad it wasn't appendix) Shelly, relaxed after selling every single Rabbit:eek: and Rich, who I am going to adopt and set him to work making bears for me, because he is so enthusiastic, and such a lovely guy. CONGRATULATIONS on your fantastic win Rich. We did not stop from the minute the doors opened until closing time, sadly because it was just the two of us I could not go out and see more people and bears, though lots were popping their heads out of bags as thier new owners browsed through the shop. I think that most people will agree there was a great atmosphere in the town hall and a really friendly crowd of people. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat, sorry we couldn't spend more time with you.
Coco had been a good girl for Zoe and had been for a lovely walk on the beach, so no chewing in our absence. :)
PS I didn't take any photos as I just did not have the time to get the camera out, did anyone take any?

Judi, Funnily enough I am actually up for adoption :p... when shall I move down?

I'm tortured since Hugglets because I saw so many wonderful bears I wanted to buy and I'm trying to hold off so I can pick up my allbear in May at the Stratford show. I think this hobby is going to need more money. Can i afford to make and collect?

Anyway, hate to advertise another forum (sorry Judi) on here but have found some fantastic photos of Hugglets and had to share with all you lovely people... enjoy...

Thanks for the link Rich, I haven't looked through it all yet but wow  some of those bears are amazing it must of been jaw dropping to actually stand next to them and maybe handle them.
Did you go past the stand of Westie bears? I love reading his article in teddy bear times.
I also registered on that forum so I guess we'll bump into each other there too. Teddy bear fair is still my favorite forum though.

Richard,

Too old at 21?! You're just a spring chicken. :p But that's sport for ya! My eldest is into swimming in a huge way and wants to go the olympics but unless he grows a bunch before then or develops webbed feet I can't see that happening.

I think this hobby is going to need more money.

Oh yeah! Fairs are just wonderful things but can be hard too especially when there are so many wonderful creations that need to be given a good home.

Regards

Lisa
