Hi, I have just started making bears and have been using the miniature patterns from Christie bears but would really like to make a miniature monkey, does anyone know where I could get a pattern? I have looked on the internet but no luck. I would like one that looks like a chimpanzee preferably.
Thanks!

Hello, and a very warm welcome to this lovely forum.
Chimpanzees, monkeys, - I have a couple of books that have patterns for both. I will happily scan them and let you have the copies, but I'm not quite sure if this contravenes copyright rules. Does anyone know what can and cannot be done without the author's permission?
As soon as I get the go-ahead, the chimps and monkeys will be on their way to you. :D

I checked the pattern I have and it says: "This pattern is for personal use only and cannot be used for commercial purposes" So I think I can share it, I would understand that you can't freely copy and give away patterns which you had to pay for, this pattern was in the march 2008 edition of teddy bear times for those who want to know.

Thank you so much for your helpful reply. Yes it is the 5 pattern pack I have, I had a couple of attempts at Cassie but they were a bit dire....I find the Montgomery and the Bettie the best ones. I havn't tried the Duncan as I am not sure about the joints? Thanks for the picture but it's not what I am looking for. I am imagining something more realistic which I can make with the velvety fabric.
Thanks again.

Hi Sheila, thank you so much, I don't mind buying the book if you tell me what it's called or it would be great if you could scan me copies. Do you think I can just shrink the patterns down on a scanner if they are big? I want one about 3 inches high.
I have made about 10 little bears up to now as presents for my friends and children, I am getting a bit faster.....

I think I have maybe 3 books all with monkey patterns in them. They are old and out of print books, so the easiest way to do it seeing as I have a photocopier that does enlargements/reductions in 1% degrees, is to reduce the pattern pieces to make a finished monkey of about 3". Then print the instructions as well, and pop it all in the post to you.
I will have a search for the the books. I know they are tucked away in a safe place. If you let me have your postal address in a private message, I will make a start on them this week for you. Ok :6044:
Bye for now,
Sheila
p.s. I find when I need to alter the sizes of any patterns I much prefer to use my photocopier rather than the scanner and the computer. I can get a much more accurate size that way.
