Hello to all the teddy bear lovers out there!

SO!

Who is going to Hugglets?

Who is exhibiting their beautiful creations and who are going to buy lots of bears.

Im DEFINATELY coming, even if it means walking there! Currently trying to figure out if Ill be able to drive through the centre of london as im a very nervous driver. Ive looked into trains but it means an hours drive to a train station, train and a tube which is going to cost me £40 compared to £20 petrol if i drive. Is it hard to get to the fair?

Have you thought of doing a combination? drive to the outskirts of london and then taking the tube the last little bit?
I wish I was going it would cost a lot more then 40 quid.... Maybe next year as a treat when I've finished uni and have a good job

LOl! Thats why i didnt go in feb Anette - i was still at uni with no money.

Im out of uni and still have no money - but im going anyway even if i buy just one bear and a few bear making supplies.

I was talking to Alison (Beartrande on here) about driving to northampton and getting the train then tube, but its just too costly. I think im just gonna drive the whole way or im gonna get confused and end up getting lost. I have my satnav, just hope it works on the day! If not, ill use my dads as it rarely gets used anyway :)

If you don't get lost I'll probably bump into you somewhere in the Town Hall, either at a stall with Charlie Bears or perhaps buying some mohair fur :)

BF forgot he had said yes  So I subtly reminded him that yes I would still love to go, and yes we are still going - yay!
I hope I can afford to buy a bear, if not I will just have to make do with admiring them all! I'm also hoping I will have the courage to say hi to people from this forum who are setting up stalls!
I've just enquired about ticket prices and it says there is work on the London underground on the Saturday and Sunday, I'm hoping it doesn't affect travelling to the bear fair, I'm a total London newby I'd end up getting lost thankfully my bf often travels to London for many work courses and events and he's coming along to make sure I don't get lost - my hero!
A weekend without Alex - it's almost like another holiday :D

Providing its running, you want Kensington High Street on the tube. It's on the District and Circle lines, I hope they are running! At the moment it doesn't look as if there any planned closures apart from the east end of the District line into Aldgate East.

It's easy from Kensington High Street, (from memory:come out, turn right, cross over the road and I think it's only about a street or two along on the road.) There should be sign posts to the Town Hall. If not just follow the bears ;)

Im getting very excited now! If anyone sees me around, talk to me! Ill be on my lonesome!!! Ill be wearing a small rucksack with teddy bears all over it. Ill also be the one drooling half the time and the other half the time, looking lost like Bambi and wondering where to go next...lol!

hehe I'm so looking forward to it too! I can't tell you what I'll be wearing as it will be whatever I throw on that morning! And I can't tell you what bag I'll be carrying as it will some generic bag that loads of people own so I'll just blend in  But I'll definitely keep an eye open for a teddy bear rucksack - even if I don't have the courage to say hi :6086:
I definitely plan to seek out all the tables of the names I recognise, I haven't looked at the set up yet to see who is actually there, so I only know that Ruth will be, and I most certainly plan on seeing those gorgeous bears in person :D

You HAVE to drop bstand - the couple of ran my bear course. Their bears are too realistic to be bears, it like having a grizzly or polar bear right in front of you!

I FOUND MY TICKETS! HOORAAHH Just need to print out the set up and then shade in the stands that I MUST see - altho i think ill be at every stand. Please do say hello =D I was really nervous at the stratford bear fair even tho I had my boyfriend with me - gonna be worse this time! LOL! Luckily I know a few people who are going so at least ill be able to speak to someone =D

Well, it's official!!

After a rough weekend with a grumpy bf, he cheered up a LOT by Sunday, apparently he was tired and stressed (I just happened to be the only one around he took it out on) told him off lots of times for being snappy! But yay by Sunday I had my lovely bf back again. I told him if he played his cards right I might let him buy me some fur :6086: Don't worry I wasn't being really cheeky, he'd been asking me to choose some all week, but after a moody Friday and Saturday I refused to let him buy me any.. yes I'm crazy hehe

Anywaaaaaay! Also on Sunday, he bought our train tickets to London and booked a night in a cheap hotel. He was originally looking at one more expensive but I said we're going for one night, as long as we have a bed, it's clean and we can shower - who cares!? It's not like we're packing lots of luxury bits anyway, if it doesn't fit in a little backpack I can't take it :( the drawbacks of not having a car to store all ya junk in heh! But, I just want a nice night alone with him, as I think it's needed. Much to daughters disgust. She even went around the family trying to raise money for her own train ticket! And as bf was booking, she adjusted "Children: 0" to "Children: 1" Cheeky lil minx! We've not mentioned the bear fair at all to her! She would really be heart broken!
I might treat myself to a hair cut before we travel as it's not been looked at since December  otherwise I'm going to look like some kind of hairy beast! :D

Oh Moo that sounds fab! A lovely night just you and ur bf. And some new fur as well. I cannot WAIT to see the fur at hugglets!

I was thinking about booking a hotel for me and my bf but it was SO expensive. We have just come out of University, neither of us have jobs and so I decided that Id just spend a bit more money on bears instead :P MWA HAHAHA!!!

So excited, I literally start getting fidgety when i think about bears.

I think there should be a name for teddy bear addiction. It needs to be done, im going to be in therapy by the time im 25 at this rate! LOL!!!!

Without looking, so I could be wrong.. isn't a bear addict an arctophile?
And know the feeling, I have no money, so poor boyfriend is paying for EVERYTHING :D he must really love me to put up with all that and then bears on top hehehe

Everytime I mention my bf buying me a bear he goes pale. The other day he said 'I spend all my money on you and bears.' I was like WHAT?!?!?! The last time you bought me a bear was at the stratford bear event in June and that tiny bear was my birthday/valentines day present!!!!'

He was like 'Oh...really? Time goes quickly doesnt it!!! Oh im a horrible boyfriend!'

LOL! Bless him! Although he did take me out to dinner at the weekend tho so i cant complain =D

Hoping to get at least one bear, (maybe two) and some supplies. It will be great to soak up the atmosphere and the bears =D

I'm so jealous I can't make it this year. All I will say Moo, Kelly and Beartrande is enjoy it. I promise you will never experience anything like it and you will say a million times on Sunday awww and OMG look at that!! You will need lots and lots of money hehe. I've just seen Pipkins Bears Hugglets preview and fallen in love with an elf riding a realistic bear - I want hehe!!

Good luck for the day Ruth, but I know you'll do fab as always!

Unfortunately Rich, I don't have lots and lots of money :( and seeing as bf is paying for it all (apart from the tickets which Ruth was lovely enough to give to me) I doubt I can convince him to treat me - did I fail to mention he's just bought me some faux fur too, AND has offered to pay for me to have my hair cut  I'm not a spoilt pampered brat btw! :6086: Honest! :p

That's a shame Rich, when we were looking at William the other day, he actually asked if you were going and I said yes :o Maybe I shoulda checked first hehe

Just popping in to say Thank you for your good wishes Richard , and Lorraine
:6015: I always start feeling nervous at this point (and doubting everything I've made )
Hope to see at least some of you forum members - such a shame you won't be there this time Judi and Chris.

I've just got a few pics, and some labelling to do then I can concentrate on the "going away" aspect :6086: Can't remember if I said on here before but I'll be dragging husband and son round the V & A on the saturday - they have an exhibition of Grace Kelly's dresses. Yippee!!

My other 2 will be in charge of my little doggies ... I have to put all their meals in little bags! Ha! The only downside to going off for the weekend is missing my fur-babies ...... ;)

Was a lil upset last night and was close to telling bf I'm not going to Hugglets, his bro had commented about us going to London - to bear fair! and not taking Alex.. and Alex hasn't stopped going on about us going to London without her either, I rarely get to go out, I don't have any local friends, bf has weekend and even mid week nights away with the boys and work. And yet I seem to be the bad guy for wanting ONE night :6022:

Anyhoo, new day new start, new hair cut and omg did she go short! I said not too short at the back, and eeeeeeeek  I lost a good 8" :6014: Not sure if I like it...

So look for someone who's wearing orange trainers and very uncomfortable :D

Oh poor you! Thats horrid!, you deserve one night of freedom to do what you wish. If people keep on at you just break down in front of them - always works for me lol! Im not spoil or anything, just sensitive about things like this, we all need our alone time away from work and family etc. :)

Ill look out for the orange trainers! Im planning on getting there for 9.30 in case of traffic so hopefully ill be in the queue with my teddy bear backpack and probably scoffing some chocolate to keep me from being excited. Altho is sugar and bears really a good mix?!

I'm going to *try* and not let it get to me any more.. but I am a very sensitive person so.. :(

I was wondering if Chris and Judi were attending this event :(

I'll be keeping an eye open for a teddy bear bag and chocolate ;) I'll probably sniff out the choccie before I see the bag :D

Ya know, I still haven't decided if I'm going to print a "Moo" tag off yet :p If I do it will only be black and white cos I don't have a colour printer hehe

Ah well, school run - got two to collect tonight - mine and her friend, but off to the park, nice and simple!

kelly1205
Thursday, 09th September 2010, 02:23 PM
Ah kids can spend hours at the park. An easy way to kill some time!

Think ill get some minstrels or something. Those new werthers original chocolates are GORGEOUS so might get them too. Ill be offering them to people in the line. So chocolate, teddy bear bag, probably a tag on the bag. I might pop one of my Charlie Bear Keyrings on my bag as well. Seems appropriate lol!!!

I'm using bf's tatty backpack, as mine got damaged on holiday, and daughters is too small. I did print off a large "Moo" label and laminated it and will prob attach it to the bag by a thin purple ribbon.

We just had to go back to mine for the tickets - oops!! Bf not impressed hehe, but like I said, at least I didn't wait until we were on the train to remember!

kelly1205
Sunday, 12th September 2010, 02:54 PM
Where in the queue were you moo? I was at the top of the steps near the front jumping up and down =D

It was such an awesome day! I bought 5 bears:

Shoe button bear - about 2 cm high.
Shoe button bear elephant - about 3-4cm high.
Flutter-by bear from ruth - a little rabbit on a cotton reel!!! SO CUTE!!! Called Bitsy.
Barrel Bear - Beatrice, a white bear with a pretty pink dress and matching pink bow.
Kaycee bear - Cupcake, one of kelsey's one of a kind bears made for the fair with a necklace saying 'Cupcake' and two orange bows on the VERY low set ears!

All these bears are beautiful. I was so happy! Also saw Alison (Beartrande) and we cooed over some kaycee bears.

I also have to admit - I ran when I got into the fair! Haha! Shuffled down the stairs into the basement straight to the kaycee bears, it was so exciting.

Doesnt help that the satnav broke tho so we had to use google directions to get there. And then got lost on teh way back!! Ugh hate driving but totally worth it.

Will upload some pics of all five bears later :) I came away with a bit of money as well, saving it for my next bear :)

Still on train, nearly home now!

It was a great day out:) I don't think I've got any money left though :( Mind you I did buy two Kaycee bears! Somehow managed to only be 2 people behind Kelly in the queue, and yes first stop was Kelsey's stall. Whilst waiting to have a look at Woo Woo I fell completely in love with a 1 of 1 called Brock. He's black with a white face and a red velvet ribbon. I can also vouch that Cupcake is gorgeous:)

I also fell for Mungo, a Charlie Bear 'minimo' who just has the sweetest little face:)

Plus I have another Deb Canham dragon to add to my collection!

Oh and a 'teeny bears' little fella, only about 2 or 3 inches tall who sits in his own cupcake ornament.

For the first time I also came home with some mohair! I succumbed to 3 pieces. I need one for the Advanced Bear Boot Camp at the end of October and also bought a pattern for a traditional-looking bear for one of the other pieces. It was so nice to see the mohair, to be able to feel the fur and get a proper view of the colours.

I went with a fair bit of money but it was nowhere near enough money for all the bears I wanted. I didnt spend it all as I decided to be good but im going to start saving NOW for the next hugglets.

It was rather busy. Particularly the kaycee bear stall, i bought cupcake within the first 5 minute. In fact, I bought three bears in the first 30 minutes and then had to slow down!

Ah its a shame u didnt see me Moo! Ill dye my hair pink and purple for the next fair!!!! LOL!!!

I really really wanted so many more bears and i purposely left early (12.30) to stop myself from falling in love with more bears and having to go to the cash machine and withdrawing more money. Eeeeeek im so glad I went and I cant wait for the next fair!

The mohair was really nice Alison, I had a quick peep but decided not to get anything as i wanted to save my pennies :)

Hmm I think Kelly and Alison were purposefully avoiding me! At least Ruth had no choice :6086:
In february (I think) I was sat here and wondering what hugglets was all about, and what happened, and pestered Rich for photos. Yesterday I went and it's just incredible. Bear overload! It's like an Aladdin's cave of bears! I walked around with the intention of bear bag spotting for Kelly (I saw a few pink bags so I couldn't look for that! sorry Alison) but I kept getting side tracked by all the lovely bears
It was lovely meeting Ruth, although I had to walk past her stall two or three times before I got the courage up to stop and say hi :o I wanted one of Ruth's little doggies - and oh my gosh in person they are the most cutest adorable things ever! You don't realise quite how small they are
I also wanted a Charlie bears bear, I first saw her on QVC over a month ago, and as soon as I saw her I fell in love, but alas, even though I picked her up many times, I still ended up putting her back down again. It's hard to justify spending that much money on a bear when I have a little girl at home who will soon need a new this and a new that! Plus I have this thing about spending money on me - bf says I need to do it more! He did give me some money and I could have gotten my charlie bear! but as usual I went and bought something for Alex  I chose a little female pipe cleaner bear, holding a baby bear sitting on a button (I get to keep the change hehe) I also bought some mini bear fabric and a piece of fur.
Last night after getting back home, I realise I wish I had bought a bear now so I'm going to ask Santa for one haha :6047:
I left bf upstairs on the balcony seating area most of the time, as he had a huge camera bag with him and I had his rucksack and we were both afraid of knocking something over - so he sat and guarded the bags and watched from the heights.
A weekend of non-stop walking, my poor footsies are sooo tired!
Alex gave me grief about leaving her, and because I'd left her with my old pay as you go phone, she was sending text after text after text  I did say to bf on the friday night before we left, is it too late to change my mind and bring her? But I think we both needed some us time. Needless to say although I bought her a little gift, and two little bears from the charity stall, she still does NOT know that we went to a bear fair. She didn't ask, so I'm not going to tell hehehe Hopefully bf will take us back for the February one! Especially as her birthday is in March, we can use it as part of a birthday event.
Taking photos includes asking the stall holding for permission - and it was hard enough to talk to Ruth, sorry no photos from me :(

Hi Everybody! :6034:

I was soooo exhausted when I got home at about 8.30pm that I went to bed an hour later!! All my boxes are still looking at me reproachfully from the middle of the lounge!

It was absolutely lovely to meet and talk to so many people ; Mandy and Kelly especially; :6015: Although I sold less pieces than previous Hugglets I still did OK, and I heard such lovely positive comments :6047: It amazed me that quite a few collectors had me marked on their list, and also had checked the website. I recognised lots of past customers, who added new bears .... although I still have all the new button and vintage ornament pieces (:o ) They'll be coming with me to Sheffield in November though :D

I've got a pic of Kelly's 1.1" tall Bitsy bunny , and a few of my stall - I heard several peeps say they just didn't realise the scale of my bears; so these should give an idea!!It's not quite as dark as the pics suggest , plus I was opposite the stairs with some natural sunlight peeking in. Guess it will seem like 5 minutes until the next Hugglets in February!! Yay!

OH MY! Kelly, I thought that was you on the steps. I said to my hubby, that I thought it was, but as I wasn`t too sure, I thought that rather than looking like a wally, I would see you in side and say hi then. But ................... never ended up seeing you lol, mind you, I was so intent on all the wonderful bears, that I didn`t really see anyone, if you know what I mean lol. Hehe I saw one woman who had her male friend fully trained! She kept picking up bits of mohair and just piling it all on his open arms, and while bf and I were sat outside, we saw them leave, and he was carrying all her bags! I did comment to bf that I need to get her to train him too :D
I wasn't quite so close to the front. Our hotel was in Croyden I believe so we had to travel in. We were stood around the corner a little but not at the road.. if that makes sense.. At one point there was a couple of young kids climbing on the brick work to the left of the queue - we were just a little behind that.
I'm glad I was dressed for summer though! It was sooo hot with all those bodies, and then in the afternoon it warmed up - we sneaked out and up the road for a roast dinner! :D and then popped back in again on our way back to the train hehehe BF did moan at me for not putting my tag on my bag, but the bag was with him most the time on the floor anyway!

Annette, I only talked to Ruth :D I think he'd have preferred me to have talked to more, but he wasn't with me so I coulda fibbed and said I'd spoken when I hadn't! Actually, I did speak to the gentleman handing out chocolates, I said "no thank you" and when he asked if we needed a floor plan, I said "Erm, no thanks, I printed one before we came.." and when he walked on, bf asked why I was blushing! He's known me for over 7 years and never noticed it before :6025: And I did want a choccie, but I was too shy to take one :6086: There's no hope for me!

I'm contemplating setting up a little fund so I can squirrel some pennies away for february! :D But knowing me, I'd end up spending it before then on Alex... Plus there are other bear fairs soon

I'm terrible with sizes too Annette, when someone posts a new picture and says how tall/small their bear is, as I am also terribly disorganised I have to spend 10 minutes hunting for the tape measure!

Moo - i was also looking out for ora shoes but never saw them. LOL! I spoke to a few people - like you Moo im quite shy - a lot of the stall holders I had spoken to on here, facebook or in real life (bear bits were there so i had a chat with them which was lovely) so I went straight up to them. But others i was more scared.

Barrel bears lady was lovely again and I had to choose between two gorgeous bears. REALLY want another barrel bear, and REALLY want another flutter-by bear...and kaycee bear....oh gosh i just want em all!!!

Moo, which charlie bear was it? I have nearly 70 charlie bears so i might have the one you are talking about? Altho a lot of my charlie's are males thinking about it, lol!!!

Oh sounds like you all had a fab time!! I am so so jealous. Beautiful bunny Ruth and fantastic buy Kelly. Shame your vintage pieces came home, I'm very shocked must say but if I can make November it may mean I can see them hehe. And wow Beartrande, I love those bears. The black and white one is gorgeous.
Moo I just can't imagine you shy hehe. I'll talk you out of it if we ever get to meet.

You're not the first person to say that Rich :o I'm comfortable behind a pc, not in the flesh though.
I love the pink fur too Annette! I thought that when I passed by the stall hehe
And yep, you can meet some nice people on the internet, my best friend (apart from bf) I also met on-line, I don't live near her any more but we still keep in touch - she was the recipient of my last tiny bear. But unfortunately there are also dodgy people! Thankfully I've not actually been so unlucky as to come across any. My bf is a lovely guy - dunno what he sees in me, I've told him he needs to get his eyes checked! :6086: But he has his faults - don't we all! He accepts the bears though, so he's a keeper :6086:

Beartrande, your two new Kaycee bears are beautiful. When I saw the Kaycee bears in the fur, I couldnt believe how wonderful they are, and found it very hard to walk away without one ....... god I must have been feeling very strong that day lol, I`m not normally like that and buy, buy, buy ..... was probably because hubby was looking over my shoulder lol. x
