Odd PM received

I've received a strange PM and am sure I read something about similar experiences from other members a while ago. Anyone know why these messages are sent?

As I have only just been able to buy a new PC after my other one broke down completely, I am very cautious of being contacted by people I don't know and would never click on any links they may include in messages.

Hi there, I was one of the people caught out in the last batch of these messages. I was stupid enough to open it and it completely trashed my computer. I have a lovely new laptop which is great, bit I lost loads of photo's of my Grandchildren.
Beware.
