I've become intrigued with wobble joints. Id love to use one on the head of a bear in the future. Are they put in the same way as normal cotter pin joints?

I collect charlie bears and love the wobble jointing making moveable heads and Id like to try it one day. I thought Id ask on the forum as you guys are very experienced and are always there to help :)

Thanks

Hi Kelly,

Wobble joints are pretty similar to normal joints except you use 2 pins.

Essentially you need 2 round ended pins and loop them together (imagine a horse shoe with another horse shoe hanging from it - does that help at all! haha). But essentially where the 2 pins link is the wobble.
With one pin, take a board and washer as usually and in whatever way you prefer secure the joint.
With me so far?
Then this board, and jointed pin goes inside the head with the remaining pin still hanging from it. The remaining pin then slips into the body and is fastened in the usual way with board and washer..

As above, it's actually the joint between the two pins which creates the wobble and you have to bear in mind that depending on the size of the bear some of this may be on show as the joint doesn't go inside the head or the body.

Wobble heads can be so nice on the right creation and can't wait to see yours.

Good luck.
Richard
