Want to make the paws with the thread that creates the individual toes, you know where the thread is pulled tight enough so that the fabric bulges through and looks likes toes, where do you start and where do you tie off please.

Thanks you.

There's an old entry on how to do this in one of the TBT times, I'll try and pull it out later if I can.
First of all, you need to remember that you need to design a footpad that, for a chance, had a larger toe area than heel to allow you the room to pull all of the toes.
Then make sure you have a firmly stuffed foot as a good base to work with. This will prevent any crinkle of thr fabric as you pull the toes.
Then with some good thread stitck all your toes lines going down as you normally would, as many as you would like, keeping the tension strong. One top I did pick up somewhere else is to stitch into the mohair just above the seam line so you have a good anchor point, this should help to prevent any creasing. Then once finished run along the bottom, again pulling tight and stitch inbetween each of the claw stitches to finish off in the usual manner.

Hope this helps and can't wait to see the result.

Hi Judi

Instructions arrived safe and sound. Have attached photo of the bear i was going to do paws on, as you can see have not gone for that option on this one as i had already sewn the ultrasuede in place and i think i should have done the process before attaching to body of bear.

He is my prototype for a desk top bear as you can see my glasses sit nicely on him, so does my mobile phone. My next one will have the stitched paws, he is about 6 inches long and 4 inches wide slides easily around my workspace , quite pleased with him, his name is handy!

Once again, thank you.

Lorna

Aw he is cute and useful too, I am always losing my glasses. When you do the feet on your next bear, you can do it when they are attatched or if you like, suff and sculpt as you go along. Whichever method you use, as long as the end result is pleasing its really up to you.
