It has gone very quiet, I can hear the concentration. I know you are all making lovely bears for Hugglets, Jenny you are across the way from us, so we are looking forward to seeing all of the new 'family'. What is everyone else making, come on guys, share it with your friends!:6041: :6030: :6018:

Hi Judy

I am still here and busy but not for Hugglets and can't even get there as a visitor this time:6022:

Today I had confirmation of a hall let for October 28th, ie what should have been Ally Pally. So it is my intention to run the second Scottish bear fair, with a move to Troon. There are so many advantages to this venue and Troon itself is so beautiful. I mailed a few people last week when I had the e-mail from the council stating that the hall was available. I have been pleased by the response especially as so people are happy to travel to be with us, so off to prepare application forms, advertising..... :6016:

Enjoy Hugglets, not only is Jenny opposite you but so is Dawn James of Hugs Unlimited. If you get to talk to her remind her that she will also need bears for France!

Hugs, Steffi

I'm still reading and lurking, oh and frantically sewing. My first bear is still a work in progress, if only I didn't keep getting distracted my the kids/husband/housework etc. :6013:

I´m here and rather busy starting to make teddies for the "Teddybär Total" at Münster on April 28th/29th. I will be there as an exhibitor and I have not got enough bears yet to fill my table :D - but there are still 10 1/2 weeks left

If anyone is interested, here is the link to the fair (english site too): http://www.teddybaertotal.de and maybe one of you is there for a visit or even as an exhibitor ? That would be great as we could meet personally. :)

As I just read some of you are also busy for Hugglets. GOOD LUCK for you all ! :)

And I'm here too. Guess what I am making!!???? I have been comissioned to spin the combings of a pure white Italian Sheepdog and then knit a small blanket which is to be displayed and auctioned for a doggy charity at CRUFTS.
Thank goodness I have a knitting machine which can make the blanket in approx 1 1/2 hours.

Word seems to have got round that I just love spinning pet hair. (I must be mad, but I love it). I still have waiting to be spun a Husky, a border collie, a Maine Coon cat and a Bearded Collie (both my own), a Samoyed, and a Bernese mountain dog.

Anyone wanting to have their dog hair spun into a top quality knitting yarn, I would love to hear from you.

Do you do persian cats Sheila ???
:6086:

Yes Shelly, Persian cat fur spins beautifully, rather similar to the angora rabbit. It's a dream to spin.

So what sort of things do people have made out of it ? And how much in weight do you need ? You can see I'm fascinated, it would be great to do something with all the cat hair that they leave around the house.
We have stripped wooden floors at home so the hairs just sits and it's quite easy to collect.

Maybe I could knit my husband a scarf :D Oh that would be so funny.

Hi Shelly, start collecting all the cat fur you can find, because to knit a scarf you will need about 6 ounces and possibly more!!

I should have mentioned that I do have to charge for the custom-spun hair because of all the time consuming processes it goes through, but at the end of the day you will be the proud owner of a totally unique item that any animal lover would cherish.

How many persians have you and what colour are they? Any chance of a photo of them. I just adore persians.

Bye for now.

Hi Sheila
Here are my cats, oh and rabbit, (bunny) so he diidn't feel left out!

The red cat is Edward and he is 14 this year, the blue point is D'artagnan and he is 12 this year. He's a big, fat, soft, cat with attitude. Edward still hisses at the hoover even though it has never attacked him yet !

Hey Shelly, what a lovely trio. The red one looks like my cat, Kumi, he is 14 and begining to get old age kitty forgetfulness. Like he has forgotten how to jump up on the bed, sofa, in fact anything above 2" and make silly faces at me until I pick him up!! Cant help but love him though :6030: :6084: :6030:

I am afraid I haven't been on here for a few days...I have had flu and am still not over it..in fact I was seriously thinking of not doing Hugglets (yes, it was that bad!!!) but I have decided that unless anything happens to make me feel worse...I will go..albeit with a depleted show table....only 11 bears instead of my usual 15 or so...no-one is totally finished yet..though we're getting there...in between sniffles!!!!

Awww..... Shelly, they are just the last word in fluffiness! Start grooming them on a weekly basis, and keep the fur from each cat in separate paper bags. It adds up quicker than you think. I sometimes add a tiny bit of super soft jacob wool which greatly improves the quality and also makes the cat hair go further.

Super photos, Shelly, and isn't bunny a little treasure.

Hope you feel better for the show Jenny. There are so many bugs around at the moment and they seem to be lingering for such a long time.

Gorgeous pets Shelly !!! I love the idea of re-using pet hair too - I feel sure that my Papillon's hair would make something lovely as it is so fine and silky , but they don't really have an abundance of it !:D My hubby likes to make impromptu felting sculptures with the (small) combings !:6086: :6086:
I am beavering away at 2 hamsters , a commission for a dressed mini bear and (hopefully) a competition piece , but I like to make time to check what's going on here too ;)
Hope you'll feel a lot better soon Jenny, Ruth:6029: :6039:

Hello everyone.....I am here, but have been really busy getting ready for Hugglets...nearly there now...and have ten bears made,(which is a lot for me!)....and one still in process...so I'm slowing down now, and not panicking so much.

Lovely pet pictures Shelly.....your cats are gorgeous...I'm cat mad, and have three british shorthairs. Beautiful bunny too!! :6087:

Jenny...I feel for you.....real flu is just awful, and really pulls you down. I vowed last time I had it, I would get a jab every year....as I had never felt so ill. I'm sure you will be OK for Hugglets, just take it easy and don't try to do too much.......and 11 bears is fantastic!!! Take care of you, hope you soon feel better!

Hi

one of the ladies who attended our craft fairs last year also used to spin dog hair.

What colour Papillon do you have Ruth? We have a Papillon/Collie cross, I know unusual but she is an absolute delight. She does cast a lot, enough to fill the Dyson regularly! Our pooch is about as big as a Westie but the big ears of a Papillon. My hisband calls he the cut'n'shut, but we love her to bits.
