Well back from Hugglets.

I went down on the train on Saturday with my two boys and husband. We went nearly straight away to the theatre to 'Les Miserables', it was the second time that I'd seen it, I went about 8 years ago when I was pregnant with my second son. It was great, I really enjoyed it.

Today it was Hugglets and the first time that I've been. My husband took the boys to the Natural History Museum, while I indulged.

Well it was so busy. I got there about 10.45am and there was quite a long queue, and the chocolates were already being handed out. When the doors opened I actually got in very quickly.

I did end up being there till about 3pm which amazed me but there was alot to see. I was able to say 'hello' to Paula , her bears looked wonderful and to Yvonne who's stand also looked fabulous (lovely chatting to you both).

I also met ,Chris and Judi (nice to put a face to the voice) thanks for the help and advice.

It was great to see the bears in the flesh after only seeing pictures of them in magazines, and I was surprised at how much smaller they were than I imagined . I recognised many makers designs but they all seemed to be about a good few inches than I thought they would be ! It makes me think that my rabbits are actually quite big.

I didn't invest in any teddies , being a rabbit lover , and I didn't see any rabbits that really took my fancy or rather that I could afford. It was great to have hands on feel of the mohair from the various suppliers, but I did expect to see some other suppliers that I hadn't yet heard of. I did find some faux fur so I'm quite excited about using that.

There where lots of antique toy stands which I enjoyed browsing round and to have them all in one place was quite useful and I was able to gather lots of business cards. Apparently I heard that there was an antique bear for sale at the bargain price of £7000, wow I wonder if it got sold?

My overall experience was very enjoyable but if I went again and wasn't going for any particular item, then I would go later because it was much quieter after lunch and I was able to speak more with the stall holders and really that's the best thing ,meeting and chatting to different people .
Right going for a sit down, If I'm tired then I don't think we will hear from the 4 mentioned above I'm sure they must be shattered....hats off to you!!

We have just got back from London, whew, that was a long day. We had a lovely show and it was so nice meeting Shelly, Yvonne, Vicky and her daughters, (loved their little bears) Andy, Eric, Dawn, Paula and everyone that stopped by to see us. Sorry we could not spend a long time chatting, but new bears were waiting for their creators to buy their coats etc.!! I will post some pictures this week, but for now we are going to have a glass of wine and then a well earned :6023: :6023: :6023:
PS Fleur the bear in my avitor, was sold at Hugglets and is going to live in New Mexico. If Ellen Berger reads this, please email me and I will send you Fleur's passport.

Phew, what a long day! I was worn to a frazzle by the end of it! It was such a busy show and such a friendly show too ... I spent the entire day rabbitting (no pun intended Shelly!).

It was lovely to put a face to the name, thanks for stopping by to say hello and for the offer of refreshments Shelly ... by the way, your rabbit looked gorgeous as you walked away!! You did too and it's hard to believe you have children! Boy do I feel ancient now. :D

All in all, it was a really good show and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was pleased I managed to make it after all the worry about whether or not I'd have any bears to exhibit. Time for a rest now though!

Goodness what a treat Hugglets was. I wasn't able to stay as long as I'd have liked as I had to rush back for my son's swimming competion. It was really busy at the start and because I didn't have much time I wasn't able to say hello to anybody unfortunately. Sorry about that, I intend to go again in September and spend the entire day there so I should have more opportuntity to chat.

There were sooooo many great bears, in fact I was a bit overwhelmed by them all. I really couldn't decide which bear I wanted the most and so I didn't buy any. :( Next time I will decide beforehand whose stand I want to raid, oh and save up more money of course.

I did pick up some faux fur however, it's so soft and silky I just couldn't resist.

I hope that those that exhibited had a really successful day.

Regards

Lisa

Hi folks ! I loved reading all your reports of Hugglets . I did go a few years ago with my sister and loved how big and diverse it was - the NEC one was my "neck of the woods" bear show though . I haven't been out of the house all weekend :6022: so it really cheered me up !!

Well.....what a day! and so busy!!

I had a fantastic Hugglets...and enjoyed every minute! time just seemed to fly...and I don't think I have ever talked so much...in fact today apart from
being totally exhausted....I have hardly any voice!

All my intentions of trying to buy mohair, and have a bit of a browse, just didn't happen...it was more dash, grab, and get back fast!

It was lovely, to have a couple of quick chats with Paula...and see her fabulous big bears in the fur! Also Laurie stopped by, and Shelly with her
wonderful Rabbit, poking out of her back pack....thanks girls for taking the time.....it was great to see you both!

Glad to say most of my bears found new homes...but strangely the two that I thought would be the first to sell.....actually came home with me!!...so you never can tell.....

Anyway, already looking forward to September......but now, time for a bit of a rest......:)

Hugs Yvonne
