I lost a bear in 1964 in the Archway Rd, Islington, London - he was bright gold, had a growler and only one eye. His name was Sidney (i also had a budgie called Sidney and a rabbit called Sidney too - it was a phase) and i loved him very much.

If anyone found him i would love to know what he has been up to in the intervening years. Is he married? Did he ever visit the Post Office Tower? Did he get a new eye? Did he drive through Paris in an open top sports car with the wind blowing through his fur? Stuff like that.

It sounds like Sidney may have travelled on the next train with another kind new owner. I am sure someone would have taken good care of him and may well have given him a new eye. I still feel sad about my very first teddy bear who was wood wool filled; and my brother pulled his head off and slit his tummy so my mum threw ted in the bin. I don't think I have ever got over it as although I sell old bears as well as collect - I know deep down that I am always trying to find a bear who looked like Edward even though I can't remember exactly what his face was like but I think he was a Chiltern - this must have been the very early 1960s. It would be wonderful for you if your ted could have been traced.
Kind regards
Ann
