Hi Everyone,:6034:
Could anyone help me with a wobbly head for a bear.
Do I use a cotter pin and what. Not sure. Usually use normal hardboard cotter pins for the head, but like it to wobble.
Please help.
Love Kay.:6013:

Hi,
I think you would use a double cotter pin joint. It's like two cotter pins joined together and then you just put a board disc on each one.
If you go to christie bears website you should see them there.

Hello Kay.

Lets see if I can explain..you can actually buy wobble head cotter pins, but
what I have done in the past is take two cotter pins, open the end of one and thread the other on to it, so both of the heads of the pins now link at the bottom.....take a wooden disk and washer and join to one end, of one of the cotter pins, and turn down as you would normally. Now place this end into the head, and pull up your gathering stitches and secure. You should now have the other cotter pin hanging down from the head.....and you just join this in the usual way to the body.....does this make sense...wish I could draw it out for you, as it really is quite easy....and I have probably made it sound very complicated.....

Anyway good luck!!!

Hugs Yvonne

Hi Kay :p

It's great to hear from you!! :) When I do a wobble head (nearly always!) I use a cotter joint, but the pin bit is more like a 'split pin' as it's not 'T' shaped at the top, it's got an 'eye' hole instead - am I making sense?

Um.... hang on...

Here's a pic of one, I use two joined together - hope that makes sense!! :p :p

Yes I do that too even with minis ; just 2 ordinary round head cotter-pins looped together with a disc on each end . I really like wobbly heads , as they give lovely poseable expression don't they :6039:

Hi
Thanks , Clare and Ruth.
Now how do I decide the length of the cotter pin, can I measure a normal T one that I would normally use for the head.
I have a choose of 1",1.25"and 1.5".
Thanks for your patience with a novice.:6034:
Love Kayx.

Certainly for my minis I use the "normal" length of pin I would've used singly .Let us know how you get on Kay !! :6013:
