Hi. Is anyone able to make a VERY LARGE bear? It would be a charitable gesture as I want to replicate an actual real sized bear in a real sized bear bile cage. This would be displayed when I am campaigning for awareness on behalf of Animals Asia and their actions concerning Bile Bear Farms in Asia. As fellow bear lovers I am really hoping that there is someone out there with the skills to create a gigantic bear - real size!!! A mammoth task I know but definitely worth doing for the shock value and resultant interest in stopping the terrible torture trade of bear bile. If anyone can take on this task I would try to get any necessary materials donated from suppliers. Your name would of course be credited and the resulting HUGE bear would be made available to Animals Asia and their supporters throughout the world for their bear events. Thank you so much. Lynne

I'm afraid I specialise in bears under 3"! However to gain maximum exposure for your worthy cause you could re-post on www.teddy-talk.com where there is a very large international membership of artists.

I'm afraid I can't help you personally but why not try what Ruth suggests and maybe you could ask if there were any groups of bear makers who could jointly take on such a task.

I do wish you luck in your quest as it's such a good cause.

That sounds like one expensive venture, the stuffing alone would cost a fortune, would it not be easier to make a sculpture, you could use willow to create the bear shape then paper mache over the frame.

Thanks so much for your replies and suggestions. The sculpture one is a real possibility as I have a friend who is an artist and although she doesn't produce sculptures herself hopefully she will know of someone who can undertake the task. It would be a lot cheaper and a lot lighter than a stuffed bear wouldn't it? I am going on holiday tomorrow but will update when I get back. We have to do something for those poor real life bears so please spread the word - even just a knowledge of their plight helps as we can make more people aware. Once again thanks. Lynne

I am still trying to source a bear. No luck as yet but several ideas in mind. Thanks. Lynne
