Hi, Everyone!
I just wanted to say hello, I am really pleased I found this forum, it was purely by chance that I did and I hope I can have some really good teddy chats on here.
It would be great to make some friends who share the same passion as me.
Just a little bit about me, I am 19 years old, i collect teddies of all shapes and sizes....I have over 700 in my collection right now
I particularly love old teddies but any are welcome in my collection and I have a thing for Paddington bear.
If any of you read teddy bear scene magazine, I am in it this month as they are searching for people with big teddy collections.
Anyway I thought I would say a quick hello and I hope that I soon get use to using this forum.

Hi Simone ! I read the article !!! That must be an amazing collection - wow :6013: I envy you all your wonderful teddy trips around the world ; fantastic ! :D I only admitted to being an arctophile when my 2nd child was about 2 , and I was glad to start indulging my passion ( picked up a Ty Old Faced Brown quite by chance before anyone followed Beanies ! ) Then about 5 or so years ago I started making mini bears , which only increases the passion !!!
A big Welcome to you :6034:

Hi Simone :6024: welcome to the forum, I will read the article as soon as I can get the magazine back from my husband:confused: he insists on telling me all of the news before I can get to read it, anyone else have this problem:6044:

Yes, Judi, I think it is something that husbands feel duty bound to do! Whether it is a book, magazine, newspaper, they just have to pick out all the interesting bits and read them out to us. It is probably incurable!

Take no notice of the banter, we men are universally mis-understood.

Anyway; welcome to teddy bear fair.com.:6034: The objective of the site is to become the main internet based directory of everything to do with teddy bears in the British Isles; and particularly to show people what's happening just around their corner. Our stats are showing that many visitors already spend more that an hour browsing; just as they would at a real fair.

You are one of the first collectors to have come on the forum and now that you're here I would welcome your comments on the site as a whole and your input about what you as a collector would like to see here. The site is under constant review and development with more detail changes coming in the next couple of months.

Perhaps you would like to start some threads particulaly of interest to collectors? Or even create links between collectors, makers and sellers. A collectors view of trends - what's hot and what's not - would be of great interest in this context.

The site is still in it's early months, what you see so far is just the beginning!

Have fun.:6013:

Chris

Hi, Chris thank you for your welcoming message, I would love to give as much imput as I can on all things teddy, wherever I can.
Your website is really good and well prestented and very easy to follow!
I would like to start some threads....are there many collectors here already or is everybody a bear maker??
I would also just like to say that I think all the bear people on here are very talented and the bears are a pleasure to look at! :)

Hi Shelly :6013:
Well my teddy bears have taken over the house, although my room is being redecorated at the moment so as many as possible have moved into other places around the house, but sadly some have had to go into storage for a short time, :( I really do hate putting them away. My room seems so so bare at the moment.

Hello Simone

Welcome in. I collect bears and make them. I dont have a large collection but get so tempted if I go to a fair and see a "buy me" bear, you know, the one you have to pick up, hold up to your face, put down, go look round, then go back and just have to buy. Since I started making the bears my collecting of them has slowed, but I think the ones i have are terrific and they cause quite a stir if friends come into my conservatory as they are on a specially bought shelf unit. They also think I am nuts when they ask how much some of them cost!

Yes Lorna, I know that feeling all too well! See a bear and have to buy one, I am terrible at bear fairs, I am an exhibitors dream! :) I see a cute little creature and woosh I am there like a flash, I wish I could lose the additction sometimes as my bank balance certainly feels the strain of bear fairs, shops and events! But I love them all.
Alot of my friends are shocked at the amount of money teddy bears cost but they are worth every penny in my opinion! I am definitely addicted!

Hi Simone

I also collect crystals I do believe in their powers, it makes my conservatory quite a haven of peace, and I do get my firend who is a Reiki master to give all the bears I make a bit of love, peace and goodwill, for people when they buy them to take from the bear they choose whatever they wish. I think it rubs off on the bears I buy too.

I am sure that some of my friends think I am daft and my beary conservatory over the top, but I love it.

I bet it is really relaxing and nice in your conservetory! My bears have taken over the house, so there are various places all around that they live! I really want a teddy bear room though, where they can all live together and I can have that one space dedicated to them all.

700 bears!! Wow, they must be an impressive sight indeed. Do you have a favourite bear or are they all loved equally? :6013:

Hi Lisa!! Thank you, it is great to be here. :6013:

I love all my teddy bears so so much, because I have them all for different reasons, whether its because they were bought as presents or for special occasions. Or I couldn't resist their little cute faces at shops or fairs.

I do have a little travelling teddy called TK who is my travelling buddy, so far this year we have been to Berlin and Amsterdam!

Alot of my old teddies and artist bears mean alot to me and the Cheeky bear my boyfriend bought me for Christmas are a few of my favourites.

Paddington Bear is my favourite character ted, I collect everything I can find with him on, ebay proves to be very useful for this.

:)
