I have had one of these bears for as long as I can remember (am 38). Mum says that they bought him for me, new, when I was very little from a toy shop. They had been looking for a small bear for my Uncle to take as a mascot when he was doing parachute jumps with the Paras, think they got one for him as well. I know he isn't made by Schuco because of his joints (had a discussion with Leyla Maniera from Steiff about them)
the other bear I bought very recently from e-bay because he is so similar to mine!
They are both 6" tall, made out of very short sparse mohair. The arms and legs are jointed but the head is made as part of the body. The joints as you can see are plastic ones. My original one is the yellow one and his eyes are knots made from black thread. He has a thread nose and mouth. the other one has glass amber coloured eyes and the same mouth and nose.
