I done it - I done it Girls and Boys!!! :D
I FINALLY made a cats head and face that looks how i want it to - it is modelled on my own smelly miserable cheeky sly old Persian cat named Tuppence - she's a real character to put it politely.
I don't think that making cute cats is for me somehow.........i like the sly devious ones best.
Well here's a pic of the earless and bodyless cat head - i need to do a fair bit of scissor sculpting around the mouth and chin area yet but barring a catastrophe ha ha ha i think i have finally done it!
I think i will call him Cornelius..........if it were a female it was going to be Dimity, that'll be next i think.

I just uploaded it as normal using the 'Insert Image' thingy on the toolbar Jenny.......is there any other way??
Thanks for the nice comment about the cat Jenny, it is a bit of a mixture between a Persian and a British shorthair is'nt it? I love both types of cat - i always wanted a British Blue myself, they are just sooo gorgeous are'nt they? What colour is yours and what's it's name?

Penny your cats coming on a treat. I have two Persians I may have to get you to make a stuffed version of them. At least your cats won't leave hair everywhere!
Edward is a red Persian and D'artagnan is a blue point. They are lovely but lazy cats.

I love your cat Penny, it looks like my Blue Persian. Well it is a lot better looking actually, mine had a misshapen head and one round eye and her jaw was wonky and one tooth stuck out, looked like the Cookie Monster, but I loved her. I had the choice of the litter and I chose Candyfloss because I thought that no-one else would love her because she was really sooooo ugly. Now we have Kumi (Janpanese for; Beautiful) he is too, long ginger fur and the most adorable face you can imagine. If I was as clever as you I would make a nice ginger cat that did not make me sneeze everytime I stroked it. :)

Hello everyone,
Here are my two attempts at pussy making. The white one was a real challenge. Can you imagine literally tracing round my own cat's nose whilst he was asleep!!! It turned out quite well, though. The whiskers were 'kindly donated' by my miniature palomino shetland pony's mane. If anyone would like a bunch of whiskers, I will gladly post them on to you. They look so much better than artificial whiskers.
The grey cat is a bit camera shy, but he has a real persian face. All his photos have been destroyed when my computer had a 'mood swing' recently.
I have tried to upload the two pictures using the paper clip thingy but they refuse to appear, so I'll try sending them as an attachment instead.
Regards,
Sheila.

Sheila..Your cats are great! I might take you up on the whiskers!!
Penny I did mine with the paper clip thingy..and I can only manage a teensy weensy picture.
Our cat is called Mimi..she's a blue cream and very grumpy with it!!
I give up with these flamin' pictures...I did it yesterday by just uploading a norrmal picture after resizing it..now I can't do it because even at the correct size I can't get it under 19.5 kb without it being so tiny you can't see it.
I don't know why it worked yesterday and not today because the sizes were the same. I am getting grumpy now...can you tell!!! LOL So no pictures of Fae and Mimi I am afraid..I have a panda with no head in there waiting for attention!!:(

Jenny - i used the insert image method of uploading a pic (the little icon with what looks like mountains - what's that all about anyway?) i have never used the paper clip method. I'll try that next time and see what happens.
Shelly - my persian is a red too, well, a kind of peachy colour really. Now she's so old and decrepit she does'nt have the gorgeous thick coat anymore but she looks lovely just after she has had a bath...........which is due anytime now. She is sooooo good you know, she just sits in the bath shivering and looking up at me with those great big golden eyes of hers as if to say "Well, you've done it to me again - what did i do wrong this time?"
Bless her.
Judi - so you have a red persian too? I never knew they were so popular. Your dear old Candyfloss sounds wonderful, i love cats that are different - i bet he is such a character. Any pics of him? Maybe i will try modelling my next cat on him!
Sheila - i love the pics you posted. The one of the back view looks just like a cat, for real. You did a great job girl.
Sandra - you are the sweetest thing my dear. You always say such nice things about my work and give such great support my friend. Thank You :o

Jenny and Clare - you need to be hosting your pics somewhere on the www to use the 'Insert Image' method.
If the pics are on your website or elsewhere on the www. just right click on the pic, click on 'properties' in the drop-down menu that appears and a box will appear with the images URL - copy & paste this URL into the box that pops up when you click on the 'Insert Image' here and.......Bobs your uncle!
If you are hosting your pics on Photobucket or similar then the URL tag is provided for you so is even simpler to upload.
Hope that helps - if not - DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!!! :6086:

Hi folks,
Anyone else want some white whiskers from my miniature shetland pony? She stands a mere 32" at the withers (that's shoulders to non horsey folks).
Her mane is her pride and joy. I will try and upload her picture using the paper clip, 48 GOOD GRIEF, it worked!!!!!!!!!! How did I do it?
Speak to all soon.

Thanks for the very kind offer Sheila but i can't bear to touch real animal stuff - i have a cold sweat if i have to touch hair, fur, suede and sometimes even leather.
I don't know why i am like this but i get all freaky at the thought of touching real hair............i have loads of beautiful furs that used to be my mothers and grandmothers and although they look fabulous i can't touch them at all. Suppose i should sell them really.
I don't have a problem with hair/fur still attached to a living animal! Weird phobia ain't it?
Thanks for the offer :6034: and your pony is beautiful.

Hello Penny, I quite understand how you feel about the feel of fur/hair that is no longer on the animal. I am fortunate that I don't have that particular phobia though, which is just as well as I spin the fleece from my jacob sheep, the Angora goats, and even dog hair and my Maine Coon cat fur. Mind you, I do seem to sneeze a lot after a spinning session.
Glad you like the pony. We got her as a foal, and she is now five. Her mane continues to get thicker every year, giving me an endless supply of whiskers. What would a teddy bear look like with whiskers? Now there's a thought!
Sheila.

I have just seen the picture of your 'Ragdoll' Jenny, is that the breed that when you pick it up they go all limp. They are both beautiful, doncha just love kitties, who said they had a Maine Coon? they grow huge. My daughter has two moggies, Mabel and Maisie, they weigh in at 2stone each:eek: Now they are on a diet and should return to a more cat like size, should try WW it worked for me:6040:

Hello to everyone!
I have just joined the forum and I am having a wonderful time reading the posts!!
Jenny, your two cats are beautiful! I have a tabby maine coon (called Tabitha!) until october last year I had her sister too, but sadly lost her to mouth cancer.
Sheila, I would really love some 'Whiskers' from your pony please, as I am currently in the process of trying to make a rabbit - although I have altered the pattern a number of times so far! I haven't yet tried to design a cat but it something I would like to do in the future.
I look forward to chatting with you all now - if my 4 year old will let me!
Lots of love to all of you

Ragdolls are supposedly the gentle giant of the cat world..and the boys are huge..Fae ..is tiny for a ragdoll...not that it bothers me...but we call her Fairy Fae because she's so dainty. She walks like a model on a cat-walk...and yes they do go floppy when you pick them up. They are extremely docile and could easily be harmed...so we have spent a fortune making our garden escape proof...and she loves to hide in the flower beds. For a docile cat she's a great mouser!! Mimi is like a tank....my husband calls her 'Zool' after the thing in the fridge off of Ghostbusters...he reckons she looks like it....

:6088: :6088: All these photos of cats are just simply gorgeous. BUT BEWARE of cat rustlers. They are everywhere. If the owners of these fabulous creatures are also listed in the Exhibitors List, then the addresses are included and are available to a worldwide readership. A few years ago I had the most perfect grey and white persian, and one night he vanished along with four other cats in the area. You really do NOT want to know their fate!!
Perhaps this is none of my business, and feel free to tell me so, but all these purrrrrfect felines are just so special to each and every one of us, aren't they, that it just brings back so many memories of my adorable Korky the night he was stolen.
Sorry, but I am such an animal lover, that I just want the best for every single critter in the world.
Take care everyone

Sheila..I am paranoid about that happening...I only let Fae out when I am in the house...if I am out she won't got out anyway!! Mimi is a house cat
( of her own choice!) and only goes out when the sun is shining , there is no breeze and it's nice and warm for her to roll round on the patio!!!
I dread cat or dog theft...it's heart-breaking!

Dear old Cornelius has a body and all the other bits too - took me ages to get him done though.
There is no doubt that cats are enigmatic little things.
Jenny, your cats are sooooooooooooo gorgeous, i have never held a Ragdoll cat - does it stay floppy when you give them their worming pills too? If they do i am DEFINITELY getting a Ragdoll in the future.........i spent ages getting a pill down my cats throat last week and still have the wounds to prove it!!!!
Here's a pic of the finished Cornelius cat. Fat ain't he? He takes after his mommy (me).

:6035: Hi Judi, Yes I am the one with the Maine Coon. 'Large' is not a word I would use though. How about gigantic, or enormous, or Big Foot. He is a rich self red with a tail that a fox would be proud to wear! In fact he is so fox-like from a distance that sometimes all my hens go into an absolute frenzy as he walks past them. Apart from that, he is just a big lazy, handsome, furry bundle of love.

Whoops, I just tried to insert an image and deleated my message. So,
welcome to Lynda, and hope you enjoy joining in on the chat. As you can tell we are all mad as hatters but perfectly harmless :6013:
I was trying to add a photo of my faithful hound Fifi, but I dont know what I did, can anyone tell me what to do
Thought the pictures of your dogs were lovely Jenny, I would like to see a picture of your Maine Coon Sheila. The pony is of course beautiful, but I have always been a horse freak anyway. Currently riding a fabulous Icelandic horse, Asjka, she has a coat so dense that when I clipped her she was half the original horse. Should I use the fur for needlefelting do you think. :6092:

79It's well worth trying to needle felt your horse's fur. I tried spinning Mij, my miniature shetland's foal coat when she moulted it but it was hard work. Mind you, I was still a rather novice spinner in those days. I think felting should be ok though. I had Mij clipped last year, and I know what you mean, Judi. The Shetlands and Icelandics have the incredible coats. Gorgeous, aren't they?
I will take some more photos of Herriot, my Maine Coon now that he is sporting his lovely winter outfit after his moult. I have almost enough groomings to spin and make a jumper from him. In the meantime, here is a picture of Badger, the dog, admiring his winnings at a show last year. I have much better pics but not on the computer. He is an absolute clown and adores competing at our local Agility Club. It certainly keeps me fit. I have got more than enough hair to spin and make a jacket or two from his combings.
Good luck with the felting your horse's coat.
Sheila:6086:
p.s. Can't upload the picture, it's just a wee bit too large Oh dear (or something similar!!!)
Thanks Judi. I will TRY reducing the pixels when I fathom it out. In the meantime here is one I prepared earlier without the rossettes.

Awww I love all these animals!! On another forum I participate in (not bears), the 2 mods/admins don't like animals.....I posted pics of my 2 'foster' doggies, and they snubbed them and said they couldn't bear the hair and the smell - so poo poo to them, I don't want to go there anymore :(
Jenny, I would dearly love a Tebetian Terrier of my own, they're just my favourite favourites!!! Do you get them clipped?? Do they moult?? I just want to be like Auntie Mabel, I'll be getting a spotty aeroplane next!! (You won't have a clue what I'm talking about if you haven't watched kid's TV for a while....!!:D )

Just flicking through threads, and looking at pictures of the cats everyone has and my old man, lying bed next to me saw cornelius and said christ what is that cat doing? He thought he was real. ha ha!!
Cannot people use their cats whisker as whiskers, they are so stiff at the base I am sure they would fit well. I have never had to add whiskers but have decided to collect my black persians whiskers they tend to drop off roudn the scratch posts I have (not for me personally). Gizzy' s whiskers are really curly, oscars are straight. Ella's (my ginger female and beautiful) are white and straight.

HA HA HA - well i must be doing something right thank goodness. I don't know how you would fix real cats whiskers Lorna, maybe superglue? Try it and let me know.

If they do Shelly, my cats must have had their whiskers permed or something as they are useless at judging distance and width. When my persian jumps down from anywhere she just sort of throws herself, freefalls and lands with one heck of a thud - she 'Floats like a Butterfly and Lands like a Brick' to coin the Muhammed Ali boxing phrase.

Hello,
Here is one of the cats I've made. I love cats and have a all black girl and a grey persian boy, as much as bears so I made my own pattern for her.
Shes' made from plush leapord print velvet has a poseable tail and I individually stitched each whisker into the cheeks. They are wire so they can be straight or curly.
She loves it on my cats scratch post but doesn't need a litter tray.
