Hello all!

I have collected manufactured bears forever, and drooled over artist bears ever since I saw one. :) Now I would like to shyly try a hand at making one :6034:

I don't have any talent in making stuff but I really want to make a special bear all by myself :)

Could you please let me have some tips? I am absolute newbie so everything you say is valuable to me, and I would like to know of even trivial things.

Is there a place to get free patterns to start off? Is there some cheap fabric for me to do trial and error sessions with?

Thanks a lot in advance..

Hugz,
Kitty.

Hello Kitty,
Pleased to hear you are having a go at bear making. But be warned, they are very addictive and you will soon be planning your second bear even before your first one has been given a name!
I feel the best place to start is to buy a bear making kit which includes all the fabrics and pattern etc that you will need and of course plenty of instructions. Christie Bears do a splendid range, and we are all here in the Forum willing to help anyone who just needs a helping hand on any aspect.
Good luck and have fun with your bears,

Hi Sheila,

Thanks a lot for your reply :)

I would try to get hold of a bear making starter kit. I don't think it is readily available here in Abu Dhabi, but I would check out all the craft shops I know and find out whether there are any available.

I would also check out the book shops to see if I can get hold of any good books on bear artistry and bear making, so I can familiarise myself with the terms and materials required :)

Thanks a lot again for your recommendations! I would try to do the best I can :)

Hugz,
Kitty.
