What is in an 's' I have it on good authority that you are only about 60/70 miles away, but what are miles on the internet.

Do you make bears, Noone round me does, which is such a shame, that is why this is such a good forum as some good ideas get thrown around.

But it would be good to talk to others face to face. Could do with some honest criticism. Doing my first bear fair Sunday. Full of self doubt but one way to see if my designs sell.

Well, I'm just North of Nottingham, so not so far from Sheffield.

I was hoping to come along to the Derby show and say hello, but my Dad is ill, and has been in hospital this week, so I'm off to Sussex to see him this weekend instead.

All the best for the show, I am sure you will do well.:6013: :6013: :6013:

cheers,

Lorna,

Is the Derby show a big event? Have you been making bears long?
I've never done a show but I'm sure you'll be fine , take a deep breath and enjoy it.

Hi Shelly

Well I have never been to the one at Derby before but I think there will be several exhibitors. I am going to get some wood wool to try and repair my dad's ted that my dog chewed its feet on (mum gave him to me cos she knew I would look after him - oooops!) I must not buy any new bears I have so many, but they just say buy me, and i cannot resist.

Have not been making bears that long, trouble is i am only an evening and weekend bear maker, so they take longer. When I went to bear making classes in Settle I could make one in a weekend. So it is a case of washing/housework or make a bear hmmmmm!:( , has to be the bear every time and I really enjoy it so have to sell them now they are made.

Now the days are darker and colder dont mind stopping in and sewing.

and

Hi Geralye

He is still all agog at having been to see Christine Aguilera tonight to get much sense out of him.

Well I enjoyed the day, for a first experience it was good, and i sold a bear, yeah!!!:6045: It was the one I thought least likely to go. Trouble is it was very quiet, not a good turn out, i have been to busier. Some people came from quite a way even a supplier from Cornwall, but I bought some lovely pistachio coloured mohair from them, have a new design in mind, I felt a bit sorry for them, however, it is a lovely feeling, everyone beary and chatty. Gave me some good ideas for another one. less is better I am sure, and a theme. I have my bears visit a Reiki Master who grants them a bit of love and compassion and happiness which I think is lovely, and people can take from the bears what they wish, but anyone who believes in a little healing may appreciate that fact.

Sat next to a lady who had created some stunning bears but only a few, they were dressed (I dont go in for dressed myself), which made mine look a bit inadequate, however, saying that, my teds faces were popular and I am encouraged enough to do one in Sheffield in June.

Still not done the pictures, old man and i arguing about a cable!! which i must have put somewhere!!!! Anyway still not using my new lap top. Lent my daughter my memory stick so she can do her dissertation. So will get round to it eventually.

Do you think you will do a show ever? I would like to enter a bear into a competition, always feel when I look at some of the other girls creations that I am not good enough.

Ah me! late, I am tired. Another day of work tomorrow:mad: I hate it, but like the money.

Take Care

Well that was interesting. Took some bears to work, never really told them about what I did as I do not want to push things, and sold 5 bears!!!!!

Result, and it is interesting to see peoples reactions to them.

Someone has even asked me to make one for her!!! they like a certain fabric that I made another out of and I think I can do her one with what I have left.

Anyway, go for it, make some bears, and see what happens.

Lorna:6086:

PS, still waiting for the pictures to be uploaded, am using my old lap top at the moment cos my new one is playing up, knew I should not have bought it, quite happy with this one, however, have been told not able to cope with all new programmes, so went along with the old man.
