This little bear I know is a real problem :(
He was purchased from a doll/bear dealer who at the time belived he was of Polish origin.
His fur is of a plush kind of fabric.
Glass amber eyes.
Stumpy arms and legs.
A very 'squashed' muzzle (hardly any profile)
He is jointed with huge discs.
Not much stuffing, as he is very baggy and soft.
I dont know if anyone has any information on Polish bears, but anything would be of help!

Hello Elaine, I will have a look tonight for your Polish bear. I can't promise anything, but will give it a try. Thanks for giving me so much information. That is a real help.
Cheers,

I have searched for all Polish bears, and I got close but not close enough. So I searched in other countries and I came up with a German manufacturer called GUND. It seems very like your bear, so I scanned the pages for you to scrutinize.
Am I getting anywhere near do you think :6044:
In the meantime I will continue my search for you.
Cheers,
Sheila

Sheila, you have indeed got very close! When I saw the picture the look on that bears face is very similar. The nose and mouth are identical. The ears are indeed large and cup like.
The neck as in your picture is very thick with no kind of neck at all. My bears fur is short. The paw fabric seems to be again the backing fabric of the plush. My bears arms are stumpy compared to the one in the picture.
Iam afraid there is no label, but to be honest I think you might have hit the nail on the head! :6013:
I must admit I have always found him an odd character, not knowing much about his history, but he is growing on me! :6034:

Thanks Elaine for those words of encouragement :) Apart from the longer arms, it does appear to be very, very close to your bear, doesn't it? The facial expression is almost identical. I have delved a bit deeper into the Gund range but so far haven't found a bear any nearer than the one I found yesterday.
If I come up with anything else Elaine I will scan a picture for you.
Bye for now,
Sheila
